RE: we vote for SoX !!

Hi Ted (and other SoX-ers...)

Thank you for prompting me to go back and re-evaluate SRC vs SoX. A "quick listen" last night turned into 3 albums, the wee hours, and a string of "I don't believe it" moments (I much preferred the SoX-sound).

But that was at the end of a long day - and who knows how it might change with a good rest and fresh set of ears ?

Well, today I corralled my teenage daughter after school for a quick listen to our usual reference piece... and she chose the SoX version without reservation or hesitation. Free of audio review adjectives and similes, her reaction was "you can hear more instruments, and they are better separated from each other". (this using Phase-Intermediate:15/ bandwidth-95.0/ alias-checked)

The downside to SoX is - for the obsessive - there's a whole world of parameter tinkering available. The "right" settings are a moving target - varying from record to record - but I sure appreciate being handed the tool.

Is there a consensus for "the sweet spot" using SoX ?
Cheers,
Grant

That's not a Toy... IT'S A TOOL !!
