RE: Try SSE4 and smaller RAM at 512MB (Kingston HyperX)

hi alan when I get this noise on juli@ analogue outs I switch to another track then back again (perhaps several times) and then I'm ok. When this happens though if I switch to digital out I get hard core metallics through the Benchmark which only goes away with a reboot. If you have an external dac to try this, please do to see if you replicate my experience. I'm going to try an uninteruptable battery power supply to see if this fixes it because my problem always ocurrs at high power line noise with cplay @ 192 / 146 src (which is the highest cpu usage). When I went to 2.5" drives the frequency of the problem was reduced significantly. When I ran music off a fd I rarely got the problem (I think I got it once). When I listen to cplay 23 @44
Khz I don't get the problem (btw cplay 23 is very very good at 44: better bass and more transparent mids but 192 is airier).

I'd be happy to do a cpuz register dump to see what we get. just let me know. and for whatever reason I can run cplay 18 all day with no metallics (any rate, any power line condition).
