RE: My curiosity is killing me: what is the point of using VISTA

Yes, it all starts from curiosity! I wanted to hear what the wasapi players (including XXHE) were like because they are supposed to be the "inheritors" of kernel streaming, which I have always liked. And several inmates have been stating categorically that Vista is better. I wanted to hear for myself. To compare players, I use one of 2 machines with a cMP hardware setup, each with multiple system partitions. To be sure what I'm hearing I use the best one with Gigabyte/Juli@. I have a Vista system partition on that machine and 2 XP partitions. Until cMP/cPlay allows me to make quick spur-of-the-moment playlists easily, and in order to listen to non-wav or flac files, I will use other players along with cPlay. Therefore, I wanted to try them all out!
Incidentally, now that I have Vista more or less tamed (I hope it didn't hear me say that!) I think it is better for general use than XP - you would be amazed how easily soundcard drivers and software apps are installed, the OS itself is a dream to install, most functions have been quick and reliable. And I don't think the Vista audio sound is that much worse than XP. Now I wonder if we could be lucky, and Windows 7 turns out to be better for audio than XP and Vista...
