Perfect example of what I am not talking about. The issue I am addressing is not whether he is right or wrong, which I'll leave to others, but rather the motivation for not blaring the public service announcements when they were actually relevant.

Perhaps Stereophile was okay so long as they were reviewing and helping to move Ayre gear. And now......

Since this thread has morphed so far afield from whence it started, I thought it fair to expand it a little further. If the thesis is correct, I would think it obvious Mr.Hansen's opinions, and that is what they are, are influenced by pecuniary interests. My point, and I still think it valid regardless of whether you think it does not address a point you'd prefer to discuss, is why not apply the same standard to Mr. Hansen than Stereophile.

My issue is not MQA. My issue is claiming Fremer shops by the label, specifically Wilson Audio, Austin is an idiot, Bob Stuart is a fraud, tube electronics are now obsolete since he has developed solid state gear that sounds better and is more reliable, etc. I thought I did mention that Fremer seemed to know a lot about turntables when he positively reviewed an Ayre sourced turntable, and that Wilson seemed to be a fine and dandy speaker when demoed with Ayre gear at various audio shows.

But other than some of those examples, I don't know how to refute those so-called "facts." That you classify those statements as "facts" suggests you use the term very loosely. And that you were "done" with Stereophile years ago suggests, perhaps, you may a little biased. On the other hand, I subscribe to Stereophile AND I own Ayre gear.
