RE: Wow, such drama ... Yeah, folks sure would be surprised by negative review after 10,15, 20 ? positive ones!!!

bjh, you just love to make a spectacle of yourself with regards to things you know nothing of. The Ayre proucts use 5x20mm fuses everywhere, as the larger 3AG (1/4" x 1-1/4") glass fuses are almost impossible to find outside of the US.

The largest UL approved value is 10 amps quick-blow, and that is what we use for our biggest amps. We have almost never had a customer failure (unless the short the speaker terminals with music playing. One blew after 5 or 10 minutes of full power into a 4 ohm load, putting out over 600 watts continuous. Fuses are not that accurate and depend significantly on the ambient temperature. If they were already hot due to full power testing with 8 ohms loads, this could have something to do with the failure, but I don't know JA's testing techniques that well.

We were able to procure some NON-UL rated fuses in he 5x20mm size with a 15 amp rating. We have never ever had one single request for this in the real world. I think most owners would rather blow a $0.50 fuse than a $500 or $1000 woofer. Wouldn't you?
