RE: Absolutely!...

Even ordinary US cotton is *extremely* damaging to the environment. They use more pesticides on cotton than almost any food crop. The only choice is to us organic cotton (I'm not kidding.) It's silly expensive - expect to pay triple for organic cotton T-shirts or underwear.

There used to be tens of thousands of high-paying unionized jobs throughout the South East US making clothing, just as there used to be tens of thousands of jobs in New England making real leather shoes and boots.

All gone now. It's the only way that the elite can prevent a revolution. If we didn't have factory-farmed animal products and poisoned GMO crops that allow for automated crop growth (no weeding required, just dump glyphosates - Round-up - over entire fields), we couldn't afford food to eat. If we didn't have cheap foreign goods to buy and distract us from how much we hate our jobs.

Like the Roman elite said, "Give them bread and circuses!"

As long as most people aren't starving and have enough distractions in the form of movies, TV, music, and hobbies, they will be content - or at least enough so to keep showing up for work.
