I purchase a couple of hundred new jazz records including many Blue Notes. I tried for a year or two to enjoy the stuff but it just didn't work for me so I advertised the records on eBay. I stated that I had purchased the records new and that they were in excellent condition not played more than twice and had been stored in Japanese resealable outer sleeves. The auctions did quite well - however one buyer wanted to return his record because it wasn't an "original". Sure lot's of people had written to ask me if they were originals, to which I responded they were not. But this one guy assumed he was getting an original "deep groove" blue note like new for $12.00. Sure did I think this guy was "stupid" - yes but I refunded his money both ways with shipping because my ad clearly omitted pertainent facts. Over time I have realized the "deception" in my ad, though it wasn't intentional, I wonder how many buyers recieved their records and thought "I should have asked". I know I decieved at least one person - and IMO it is exactly this kind of omission, ie. deception, is what this seller is relying upon to make the sale at his minimum asking price.I realize that not everyone has the "Tom1356" kind of savvy and it's easy to mislead some people. As a seller it would bother me to no end if a buyer made a purchase from me and was surprised by what he recieved. Surely this seller could have clarified his ad to help avoid any confusion but chose instead to perpetuate his attempted profit maximizing deception into a slander against McIntosh.
Give me rhythm or give me death!
