Agree with you in part here. If it was my ad and I was asked by someone at MAC (in a civilised fashion) to amend it, I would have no problem doing so. I think what irks some people is that the company seems (based on what we have been told here)to have resorted to the legal route very quickly indeed.

Personally, whenever I view ads on EBAY/Audiogon etc, I automatically assume that there is no warranty unless it states something like "XXX authorised dealer - balance of warranty transfers to purchaser"

Would someone spill $5k+ on an item and not ask specifically about the warranty (even if it was a few years old)? It takes all sorts I suppose.

Maybe MAC has some experience with people coming back to them looking for warranty coverage when there is none?
