It is now quite likely that the seller acuratly described the merchandise as having been played in his system. Clearly second hand stuff.

So, the issue here is that "uninformed bidders" might think a warranty "should" be included?

Are you saying that the seller must be responsible pointing out that McIntosh has an unreasonable warranty policy, a policy so unreasonable that uninformed bidder may wrongly assume a warranty should be included?
