You're assuming the seller in this case is somekind of innocent hobbyist. I don't think we've established that as a fact and as such it's impossible for me to condemn them with the kind zealousness displayed by so many others in this thread and around the board.Surely I could agree with the condemnation of McIntosh if the scenerio painted by this seller could be taken at face value. However it can't be - based both on his evasiveness in providing the true facts of the case, ie. the circumstances of how he acquired the unit and why he is selling the unit 2 weeks later.
Surely McIntosh did not try to limit this guys ability to resell these used amps at close to new price - but they did object to him misrepresenting them as being "like new" when in fact the were really "like used" with regard to the warranty. Given the opening bid price IMO this seller is/was attempting to rip off an inexperience/unsuspecting buyer of McIntosh products. That may be his right and you might feel empowered to defend it but I for one applaud McIntosh position in this situation as the "seller" has described it.
It's you and the others who are rushing to judgement without obtaining all of the facts.
