be in effect because of the young age of the unit. And, some of these may ask the seller and some of these may not ask the seller.
McIntosh's warranty policy certainly couldn't be deemed unreasonable in light of the successful sales history of the company. Perhaps it is unreasonable compared to the industry standard. But, every single purchaser of McIntosh equipment should be aware of their non-transferable warranty up front. If this is sufficient cause for them not to buy from Mc, then so be it. I suspect it is not because most buyers intend to keep the piece for at least as long as the warranty period.
I don't know why McIntosh has their warranty limitations but I think it has nothing to do with penalizing second hand buyers or attempting to increase new purchases. It would be very interesting to learn if Mc has always had this policy or was it added sometime in their history.
