System One
Martin Logan CLS IIz
Frequency Response: 35–20000 Hz ± 3 dB
Audio Research LS25 MKII,
Frequency Response: +/-.5DB, 1.0Hz to 100kHz -3dB pionts below 0.2Hz and 400kHz
Audio Research VT100 MKII
Frequency Response: (-3dB points at 1 watt) 1Hz to 100 kHz
System Two
Magnepan 3.6R
Frequency Response: 34-40kHz ±3dB
Conrad Johnson ET-250S Hybrid
Frequency Response (at 10 Watts): 20 Hz to 20 kHz (+/- .25dB)
Conrad Johnson CT5
Frequency Response (at 10 Watts): 20 Hz to 20 kHz, +/- .25 dB
I looked and I could not find any ultrasonic response quoted for the Conrad Johnson equipment but since they are down only .25dB they should have some but how much? There is a lot of equipment, even high end equipment that is HF limited due to philosophies of the designers and I don't know if Conrad Johnson is one such company. I searched for Power Bandwidth specifications and found none. I am sorry, if the owner's manual gives a power bandwidth specification and it goes beyond 40kHz it should be fine, otherwise I would swap components to get all the ones that reproduce ultrasonics in the same system.
If you could combine the AR preamp (to 400kHz) and amp (to 100kHz) of System One with the Magnepan speakers (to 40kHz) in system Two you would have a system perfect for all high resolution sources. As it is now the one system is limited by the speakers the other by the electronics.
Once you get all the ultrasonic equipment in one system I believe you will hear the huge difference between SACD and CD on the Wadia.
Give me high resolution or remain silent,
Teresa
