FWIW from the McIntosh site...

"AND THE PROTECTION OF OUR AUTHORIZED McINTOSH DEALERS:
In order to insure the highest level of customer satisfaction, NEW McIntosh products may only be purchased over-the-counter at an Authorized McIntosh Dealer and may not be sold by mail, telephone or via the internet. Products purchased via the internet, telephone or mail, are presumed to be USED and are not covered by any McIntosh Warranty. McIntosh does not warrant, in any way, products that are purchased from anyone who is not an Authorized McIntosh Dealer or Products that have had their serial number altered or defaced. "

The bold text is my emphasis.

So McIntosh is very clear at thier web page that no warranty exists on anything except purchase from an authorized dealer. A special pop-up greets you when you get to thier page emphasizing the point.

Anyone who was looking to purchase a relativly new Mac product for about $5K should and probably would go to the Mac web page to check it out. I think Mac should have stopped at thier web page notice, and not stick thier face into a private process and potential transaction that they had no buisness with.
