What I don't see is any evidence whatsoever.........

The original ad is the thing! In E-Bay ads I constantly see statements such as "still under warranty" (but won't be after you buy it), "warranty cards still blank - will send receipts" (inferring that the buyer can just fill in the warranty cards, mail them in and they will have coverage), "original dealer will honor warranty" (better get it in writing from the original dealer), "warranty may be transferrable" (its not or the seller would have clearly said so), ad infinitum. I'm sure Mc has a large problem with grey market stuff and complaints from folks who bought without knowing about the warranty - sounds reasonable to me that they would like to protect their reputation as will as the public (which appears to be an incidental matter to them). Without knowing exactly what the ad said, or IMPLIED, advise to the poster is speculative at best. Without regard to Mc, he should be happy to make it CLEAR to the prospective purchasor that there is no warranty.
