This must be some prankster...

Why would McIntosh even care. Once they sell it the unit is sold. McIntosh has no control over that sold unit - and if a seller lies and misrepresents it on EBAY again that is of absolutely NO concern to McIntosh. Buyer beware...The item on ebay may as well be Barbie doll and Ken set as far as McIntosh is concerned.

If the add said tranferable warranty and it breaks and the buyer goes to McIntosh and McIntosh says sorry no warranty is tranferable then the buyer can go back to the seller for lying or misrepresenting what is sold...still havs nothing to do with McIntosh - unless in the US there is a law stating that warranties are transferable whether the company likes it or not.

In Canada we have some kind of law that even if a store puts up no returns as is etc that it means nothing because if an items "Should" last X ampunt of time the law supercedes whatever the company tries to finagle...sort of like a hidden warranty. Reasonable time or something like that...it's been a decade since I took Business Law here so things may have changed.
