I guess I didn't note the irony in your previous posts :)

I was flabbergasted when I changed the power cord on my SACD transport (at that time a modified Philips SACD 1000) and on the other end of fiber optic cables my DAC6e produced louder and more defined bass. What the heck?

A plausible explanation? You're the hardware guy not me :) I still don't know if you are serious or not, but looking at digital signals with a scope and seeing how analog things really are, you definitely see things like input clocks and signals affecting local ground levels which in turn affect output clocks and signals on chips...
