While it is true that CD-ROM data discs have one additional layer of error correction compared to CD-Audio discs, even if they could somehow be used for CD-Audio, it wouldn't help the sonics.

With even the cheapest bog-standard CD players, there are almost *never* any non-recoverable bit errors.

All of this was thoroughly researched in the early '90s when the tweaks first started being used. Check the Stereophile archives online for more information on this.
