HowdyDoesn't that show you that ASRC isn't nessacerily "evil"? For example tho many switching power supplies leave something to be desired, there are some great components that utilize them, and as you've discovered not every DAC that uses ASRC sounds the same. In fact (if I can put words in your mouth) some ASRC DACs can even sound good.
