HowdyI don't base my understanding on the data sheet from a manufacturer. I worked with the people who originated the current ASRC algos that many of the manufacturers use and also I have taken classes in school where this stuff (e.g. SSRC) is considered elementary. I have implemented both for myself as well as for companies I've worked for. I strongly recommend that you take a class or two or at least implement some of this stuff for yourself to get a better idea what's going on before you spread more unfounded rumors about this stuff.
I'm sorry that I also didn't make it clear that if there are two clocks that if they are not synchronized (i.e. that in the long term the ratio of the clock rates doesn't exactly match the ratio of the sample rates to the nat's ass) then you have to do ASRC conversions or worse.
