Frankly, most of what I've seen from the people you refer to as objectivists is simple skepticism, which is generally a fairly healthy thing with some of the wilder snake oil potions that get peddled in the audio world.
As I've noted before, it perfectly appropriate that you conduct product comparisons in whatever way you see fit before spending your money. I recently bought a new amp based on listening comparisons in my home. No DBT or SBT, just listening until I was convinced it was a change that made sense to me.
However, I also know that the differences I heard are relatively meaningless in arriving at any larger conclusion. I did not go forth and make universal claims for it or the technology involved.
For myself, I remain generally skeptical regarding many of the claims of audibility involving various wires. Much of what I hear between differing wires falls in the same level of difference I hear when I move my head about 6" forward or to one side. I guess I could get one of those head braces they put on people with broken necks and attach it to a wall stud so I wouldn't move my head away from the prime position while listening. But I doubt that I will.
Certainly I understand that some people feel the degree of audible difference is much greater than that example, but we're back to the same way I bought my amp. That's a fine way for them to justify spending their money, but it certainly establishes nothing in the area of scientifically validated evidence respecting how audible cable differences are.
