FEP is different from TFE which is much higher temperature rated. FEP is not very popular except for audio use where manufacturers want the teflon dielectric qualities but may not want a plated wire.

I'm not contradicting you, just pointing out that teflon is a class of plastics, with varieties which have slightly different properties. Most people are not aware of the existence of FEP teflon and why it is prefered (well definitely not for heat resistance!)
