New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

agree with you, mostly

Given a DSD sample rate, higher bandwidth means lower resolution and vice versa. The resolution is not a function of specific frequency, but system bandwidth as a whole. Your reasoning is essentially sound. This is why a DSD system requires high oversampling, 128x a 22 kHz bandwidth, or 64x a 44 kHz bandwidth.

I am not sure what you mean by temporal resolution, but it is true that the system resolution is determined by the number of bits and it is constant.

Really, there are theoretical advantages and disadvantages to both types of encoding. The proof is in the pudding. SACD continues to provide me with great listening on a daily basis. If DVD-A ever gets its act together and provides me a decent player and a bunch of 24/192 titles, I would be most enthusiastic about trying it.
