How on earth can somebody judge two different playback systems on unfamiliar material, on unfamiliar speakers, in a, probably, unfamiliar acoustic, without having the original available?
He describes exactly what I hear doing such a test, having the original available, but I find the DSD version much more alike the original then anything else I heard up to now.
His story about the guitar & Singer is hilarious, He should not have ask for the distance from the support mic to guitar, but he should have asked how many microphones where used and what the support mic level was compared to the main microphones in the hall.
Please forget this story and I hope that somebody knowing what he is doing, will do a real A-B-R test under controlled conditions.
Apropos, his PCM truncation story is absolutely nonsense.Jean-Marie
