Everything is not so black and white. Why must opinions be so polarized?I actually don't know a single person that "hates" pcm. To the contrary, pcm rcontinues to be a viable recording tool as does analog. Most engneers, including myself, utilize pcm with analog or DSD sources to make the end product.
When given the choice, of course any engineer will choose to use the format they like best whenever possible. Sometimes practicality, and sometimes budget, determines what will be used on any given project.
A number of us have simply found that DSD is the most faithful to our analog source and that SACD most faithfully reproduces it at home without the hassles that DVD-A presents.
Production support from manufacturers does not sway opinions of other engineers I know, either. Any prominent engineer or independent label can get support from most any manufacturer whose product they like. No decent engineer or label is going to put their hard-earned reputation on the line, or put inferior product on the market, just because **XYZ Corporation** gave them some production support.
