Let me tell you a story

Gang,

About 3 weeks ago before it got bitter cold. Kelly and I invited some friends over who have never been to our place before for drinks and dinner. In the party was a well established Guitar player, Bass player and the local mastering guru.

The system du jour (as my wife likes to say) was the following:

MAC iBook G4 with dual LaCie drives and about 800 cd's ripped Apple Lossless

My new USB DAC the Crimson with vol control and WE101 output tubes.

My new Cardinal Ag 300B SET amplifiers

Cain & Cain Wall-O-Sound Speakers (linked below).

Room (speakers on the long wall, that's why they where designed that way) 28x12x10

Ok... when everyone came in everyone took the tour the guys and the gals thought the speakers looked great. You know that is what they always say. Note to self at shows always have really cool looking speakers. They thought the sound was good and continued on.

After a Drink the Bassist asked about the system and I showed him what it was. He asked if his latest CD was on it. I said I had all his work He plays for the Bears with Adrian Belew, Bucket, Tickled Pink and Grave Blankets.

He was shocked... He called the mastering guy in and the guitarest for Tickled Pink and that was it.

I could not get them out of that room all night.

They said they never heard anything that sounded that good ever.

Granted it's an expensive system one that has gone to it's owner (except the speakers and the computer) by now.

But I think the big thing is that Musicians, Pro Audio guys and Mastering people have no idea what their stuff is being played on. Nor do they have any idea of the potential.

Till now!

The mastering guy wants to come over all the time before he releases a new CD. All the local artist's are calling and asking if they can tryout their demo's.

Look gang... Pro stuff for the most part is pretty crappy stuff. The idea is if you make enough of them (meaning 1000's) then you can make money. Not like HIFI were we think well if we can make like 100 then maybe we can make a profit.

Well back to work,
Thanks
Gordon
