I've had the Vandy's for years, in two different rooms, and spent many hours tweaking the setup. Used 'em for several amplifiers (mostly integrated) and for reviews. It's not so much that I had a problem with certain recordings; it's more that there were certain ones I didn't listen too much--which, once I switched to the Mackies, just made sense for the first time. It's not that I noticed a problem before; it's just that when I first used the Mackies some things just suddenly became clearer.

I should add that the Mackies have an easier job. It's a simple speaker that doesn't go as deep and doesn't fool around with time alignment (which makes driver integration a lot easier). It's a less ambitious design that in my room works better.
