If you are listening single-ended, there is no termination standard for that and the Mogami will be found lacking.Run it balanced at low impedance and it is a different world. The balanced line standards were specifically created to eliminate cable variance and weaknesses and it excels at that. *THAT* is the real reason why engineers say there there is no difference in cables- in the pro audio world that is true because of the balanced standard.
This is the same reason Mercury could park their recording truck hundreds of feet from their mics in the late 50s and still turn out recordings that are highly respected today.
The balanced line standards were created nearly 60 years ago to eliminate cable problems and it was/is successful. Audiophiles, unaware of how the technology works, instead throw money at the problem by buying expensive cables, which works in their case because the single-ended audio cable system is prone to cable weaknesses and interactions.
IOW the engineers are not wrong and neither are the audiophiles, but they are using the same words 'interconnect cables' when talking about two different things!
