This is worth repeating!

We also think of the frequency range of various musical instruments, wrongly thinking an instruments fundamental is the lowest frequency.

It is not however, for the same reasons, any change in level has the same kind of effect as a broader spectrum.
For example a 5 cycle Gaussian amplitude tone burst, while one pure frequency, occupies about a third octave in bandwidth.

With recording, if one can switch between CD and 24/96 rate, the difference is clear very quickly with natural sounds..
