I still pretty much agree with what I said. From what I've learned of the CD transport, minute differences in the timing of the pits (jitter of the pits as seen by the laser) are not going to correlate to jitter at the DAC. And are not going to affect the quality of the power seen by the DAC. Given that, and if we can ascertain that no real difference exists in the data going to the DAC...

I could, of course, just be plain DEAD WRONG. But I didn't make up any BS to support my argument, it's based on the actual workings of CD transports.
