Exactly right. Sighted tests aren't as valid because you are influenced by more that just your ears. Whether listeners will admit it or not, there are subliminal messages at work that may cloud one's judgement. Notice I said MAY cloud one's judgment. The problem with sighted tests is you simply don't know if extraneous influences are at work or not. Too many variables that must be eliminated. The only way to tell is if you can't see what's happening and you don't know what's connected. You know who you should ask? Stevie Wonder or Andrea Botchelli. I'm serious. A blind musician would be the perfect subject for an experiment on wires, freezing and all the other tweaks we argue about.
