Re: Oh no it isn`t.......

This is a perfect example of pseudoscience. You obviously don't understand what happens in the chipset when an error is detected, and just made up some stuff that, I guess, you thought sounded impressive. STOP DOING THAT. You only end up confusing others who, just maybe, want to actually understand what happens.

Some months back I was perusing the rec.audio.* newsgroup archives on Google when I happened across a post made by one of the resident gurus here. The post was such an embarrassment that I won't mention his name so as to spare him any additional humiliation.

Anyway, the guru's post was a rant about the claimed 96dB dynamic range for CD. He claimed that 96dB was "pure science fiction." The main thrust of his argument was that CD doesn't actually use 16 bits for data but rather it uses 15 bits plus a sign bit. Therefore, he claimed, CD was inherently limited to just 15 bit resolution. He even went on to "do the math" as he said that those claiming the 96dB spec clearly hadn't done the math themselves before making the claim.

He was so adamant about his claim that while he graciously allowed other people to believe it, he closed by saying "only don't tell me."

Of course he was told, but either he simply didn't read any of the replies, or he read them but didn't have the spine to acknowledge that he was hopelessly wrong.
