Umm, Ozzy...

Hi Ozzy, I told you to avoid that Classe amp, didn't I? It sounds to me like the damn thing clipped in the high frequencies. It is not that unusual for a high feedback amp to have problems with high frequency power limitations. If you keep the speakers then put some big tubes on there like a pair of Rogue monoblocks and you won't have any problems. I am also not surprised it didn't sound so good on your other speakers compared to your RM9.

I mean think about it, did the RM9 cause you to burn a fuse and blow a tweeter? You were concerned about it clipping but you don't kill a tweeter by sending clean power within the speakers limitations so something somewhere wasn't happy with the Classe.

If you do sell the speakers and want to take a real and definitive step up in performance and want to stay planar then there is really only a couple of choices: Apogee Diva or Duetta Signature or a big full-range electrostat like Soundlab or Acoustat. Trust me the Acoustat 1+1 and 2+2 are better in nearly every way to any Maggie (possible exception to the 20.1) and the Diva will do things you never dreamed a planar speaker was capable of doing. Look around they pop up from time to time. There was a pair of Infinity IRS Epsilons (only 1 box per side) on Agon recently and these also make a superb loudspeaker.
