I've had good luck with my Maggies

I've had Magnepans for 20+ years. First the MGII's then the MGIII's which I modified 15 years ago with MIT and Solen caps, Kimber wire, bypassed the fuse panel, etc. In 20 years I've had the ribbons replaced and the MGIII’s rebuilt (all new drivers). But I never blew any fuses or had any damage going without fuses. I listen at high volume, as needed. I ran various tube amps from 60-120 watts per channel, though I had a home theater amp for a while (dark period) with 400 wpc@4ohms. I now have the 3.6's and love them as well.

Things can happen though, look at all the varying responses.

If you love the Maggie sound you’ll know, or maybe you'll come back. I have gone through Genesis', CLS's, Avalon's, etc. but I purchased the 3.6's to replace the 20 year old III's and enjoy them more than all the others I've owned. If you can, put the Maggies in the closet till you decide if you prefer them or cones and domes, etc. Then sell whichever you don't like after listening to your new choice.

I hope whatever you end up choosing works out for you.
