Re: Ozzy - abandoning the CA-200 already ?

Not exactly second thoughts, but........

I blew a tweeter Sunday night while playing at a relatively high volume, but not what I would consider out of the ordinary. The amp was no where near clipping. Midrange and tweeter fuses blew and the tweeter did not come back after replacing the fuse. Yes I tried more than one fuse, just in case.

I have a replacement tweeter on order from Magnepan and will repair the 3.5s and probably sell them. I love the way they sound, but that is just too fragile for me. And since the fuses degrade the sound quality, what good does it do to have them in place if they won't even protect the tweeter? I am not going to listen to music on the edge of my seat waiting for the hammer to fall again, that's no way to enjoy the experience.

Sorry for ranting, I just have sour grapes after blowing a tweeter after only owning them a week. I guess you guys are more up to the challenges maggies present. Hell, I owned the 1.6s for almost a year and for half that time had the fuses by-passed with never a minute's trouble. Just my luck I suppose.
