I once tried to buy a used Naim CDX2 from a dealer......

I once tried to buy a used / trade in CDX2 from an authorized Naim Dealer. They called and said it was in and ready for pickup. When I arrived at the dealer there was a CDX2 box by the door with my name on it. I asked to see and try the player before taking it home.

When they opened the box it was just the bare player in the box with no packing or anything. Didn’t even have the power plug in the back so unless you had a SuperCap it wouldn’t work.

When they put it on the counter and opened the CD tray- it proved the transport bolts were not in place- they told me the owner didn’t drive very far with it in his trunk so not to worry.

The surface of the CD tray had cake encrusted finger prints on it like the previous owner just grabbed it with his bare hands while eating cake- So the sales guy pulls out a 3 inch wide dirty paint brush and cleans off the food particles.

I walked out laughing. What value were they adding to the sale? If they would have checked, cleaned and detailed the CDX2. Verified it had all the correct accessories and verified the transport bolts were in place- I would own the CDX2 today. Buying it from them was no better (worse) than buying it off Audiogon.

There’s a reason why B+M Dealers are dropping like flies and it’s not my fault.
