For one, the Cello did not alter phase as the knobs were turned. Subjectivist audiophiles like yourself would say that they hear phase anomolies being introduced by such devices. I heard no such anomolies out of the Cello in the rather brief period of time that I heard it.

As far as anything in the 70s. While circuit design hasn't changed all that much, transistors and other components have. We all remember the grain that came out of those "vintage" components. Objectively.

The only EQ I need and have is Steradian unit by Legacy. That too alters the level (40 - 80 Hz), while maintaning (even restoring) proper phase alignment. It is being used only in the LF portion of my 3/4 fully active rig, thus preserving midrange and high freq neutrality.
