...listening to professional classical instrumental and orchestral performances, I can hardly tell one performer from another. So it's easy for me to choose the best sounding--or at least sonically adequate--recording. Jazz is whole different ballgame, of course. I _must_ have a great many 78-mastered performances of Armstrong, Ellington, Parker etc.
