Re: Has anyone noticed that JC doesn't use the 1700B for distortion measurements?

John says he's used four different spectrum analyzers, including the internal sound card on is Macintosh using a demo version of Mac The Scope FFT software and says he has got virtually the same results with all four analyzers.

This indicates that the ditortion he's measuring isn't likely being produced by the analyzers, but rather, since it also doesn't appear to be produced by the cables, his 1700B. Therefore the age of the 1700B is relevant.

So I fail to see what your point is with regard to the semantic issue as to what exactly is doing the measuring of the distortion.

The question all along has been whether the distortion was being produced by the cables or by the test gear.
