For one thing, that is your formulation, not mine. I am not responsible for it.Sighted auditions are quite unreliable for detecting small differences. Even where the differences are audible, as may be assumed with speakers, sighted auditions are unreliable even for evaluating the sound.
Blind auditioning is much more reliable, like it or not.
For example, it will take a lot more than Brian Damkroger's sighted auditions to interest me in on a pair of interconnects and a pair of 8 foot speaker cables at a cost of over $2,000, which he considers "neither particularly inexpensive nor insanely expensive." Such things are basically audio jewellery with no proven audible benefits beyond much less expensive products.
