A modest proposal:

“I just know that for over three decades not one audiophile has been able to prove to witnesses that he can hear differences among wires intended for audio use while listening to music with A-B SPL's matched.”

If true, this gives audiophiles as much credibility (in this area) as people who purport to have been “victims” of UFO abductions.

“I've been waiting patiently for a name.
The wait could be over in an hour for a blind test ...
but I guess no one can spare an hour to shut me up!
Or maybe they just can't hear wire differences.”

Suggestion: Instead of continuing to carp at each other until all of you are in your "golden years" and collecting social security, why not strive for mutual cooperation as a way of resolving this issue? Arrange for some *relaxed* blind tests to be conducted in the personal listening rooms of three of the more contentious subjectivists, say, BJH, MKULLER and a third to be named later. I’d be curious to learn the results regarding two areas of major contention: wires and amps. Cut the subjectivists some slack regarding the amps by insisting that a tube unit be compared to a solid state device. Allow the three subjectivists to compare their reference to the wire and amp of your choosing. In addition, allow the subjectivists to select all the musical material with which to evaluate the gear.

You need not rush to get things done, Richard. Do it at your leisure. Hell, take the better part of next year in getting around to each of the three subjectivists. I should think a weekend with each one (assuming you can tolerate each others company for that long) would suffice. The whole thing might prove to be great fun, and I suspect there are a few of us, who frequent this venue, who would be agreeable to helping you with expenses. (An impartial observer would need to be present at each of the three sessions as a way of settling any disputes that might arise later regarding methodology and results.)

Disinterest on the part of subjectivists would only invite more suspicion regarding their purported powers of discernment. Any takers, or shall we waste another decade making the same tired old points ad nauseam?
