Well, if you look in more detail at the report on the DBT in Stereophile for July 1989

you'll find that the differences showed up more clearly with some musical selections than others, and this is evident from Table 4 on Page 4. As JA remarked, "The Fauré piece for choir and orchestra was the best in this respect, with the naturally miked drum recording totally inadequate . . ." [I always use at least one choral recording when I audition equipment!]

Why are you whining about the DBT?--It showed those two amps were audibly differentwith those speakers--not a big surprise given the difference in the FR measured at the speaker terminals! (See Fig. 3 on Page 6.) A DBT was hardly necessary.
