I invite a non-audiophile buddy to help me with a listening session, for argument sake we'll be swapping between two different pre-amplifiers. We do a swap and I ask for impressions, and he replies ... sounds same to me. I then ask him to concentrate on an aspect where I heard a clear difference, say the voice of the singer. We do it again and now my buddy notices the differnce. So he's now *tranined* ... no bigwig audio researcher, nor for that matter, no a big-named critical reviewer, required!Remember if it weren't for the trust your ears crowd we'd likely still be living in a world where SS designs with massivie amounts of negative feedback dominated the market! Great specs, crap sound ... not my idea of the ideal!
p.s. In the case of the two pre-amplifiers I going for the one that sounds best! ... there is NO OTHER meaningful measure for me.
Signed, Joe Audiophile
