Yes the glue stinks, and the staples are a pain! As you can see its really not too difficult to disassemble and also fix once you know what you are dealing with. The end of the bass wires might start curling up one day, but hopefully not for a good while. Like I said they can also curl without buzzing too but it's certainly not optimal! Try to keep the speakers out of sunlight if you can as IIRC that makes delam more likely.
Glad to hear you reglued ok. It's bound to fix the issue.
As for the XO if the speaker had more staples than you can imagine than its pretty unlikely its even been touched since it was built at the factory :-)
