Several years ago I bought a pair of MG 3.6 and had them shipped cross-country. They arrived
with wires lifting on one panel - 40 plus mini-delaminations ( less than an inch in length ). I used
Peter Gunn's technique of DAP Wellwood applied with toothpicks. Then, because both panels
were tacky, I sprayed DAP TouchNTone aerosol spray which hardened the failing Miloxane.
This was to prevent further de-lamination.
The operation was successful but I sold the pair a few months later with no long term feedback from
the buyer.
3-4 years ago I stripped and rebuilt a pair of SMGa's using 3M 77 and the 30NF from Magnepan.
Messy project but results were great. I think the current owner, also an asylum member still uses them frequently.
He has also been known to crank the volume! Are you listening Infinity Apogee?
Until the sock is removed you will not know the extent of the problem but anyone with the interest
and average manual dexterity should be able to tackle the repair with success!
