The concept you're also struggling with is the mix of materials companies use.
Some companies use pure MDF for all parts, while, for example, if you look at Bowers & Wilkins, they use wood, aluminum, plastics, etc. Wilson makes use of various types of phenolic resins, it appears.
Then there are the shapes, used. Many Magicos are quite crude -- rectangular or tube-shaped enclosures out of aluminum. Perhaps because it's cheaper to manufacture that way. But when you look at a Vivid or B&W Nautilus or KEF Blade, there is some creative shaping going on, something that can't be done with aluminum or even wood.
I could go on and on, but you're making simplistic, not-well-informed arguments. Look around the world -- lots of different ways to approach this loudspeaker-design thing.
