This is what I wrote in response to Dr. Hawksford 18 years ago:
'HFN' July 1986 p29 "... One factor that can somewhat improve the test is to supply a slightly different drive voltage to each capacitor. This does complicate the test, but it does remove one potential criticism, which is the 'tip' located near the falling edge of the error waveform. It can also reduce the peak-to-peak error output up to 40% off the original error waveform, seemingly by allowing better fit of the two RC time constants, (eg. 10% changes to 6%)."
