Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Really?

I've always understood that the distinctive sound of instruments had to do with harmonics, i.e. a trumpet playing some fundamental frequency/note has different harmonics than say a oboe playing the same note.

Now I assume that with a sufficiently flexible perfect equalizer one could take the signal of the trumpet and manipulate it to sound like an oboe. Personally I'd call that a distorted trumpet... you call it whatever you like!

Everything matters, don't forget to tweak your placebos!
