RE: Here's a clue............Be careful

You could be measuring a simple phase change in the source to end of the cable run as "a distortion voltage" when this is not the real case (hence some of those "wild"results.
Having tried to measure this sort of stuff many years ago I found it very hard to detect any change on a analoge scope once the phase change was corrected.
