"We I guess you would be the rare exception, a case of a person who doesn’t have a bias, or the more common example of someone who doesn’t admit / see they are unavoidably biased."
Strawman. Now if you can locate an instance in which I've declared myself bias free (i.e. unaffected) then I'll retract and own up.
"The point of the unknown test is to try to separate personal bias from reality after all."
Not quite clear if by "unknown" you mean "DBT" but if so, yeah, I know what the point is, anyone who spend time here could hardly have missed it!
"Even so, a “bias†does not prevent a real expert from noticing something the other “experts†didn’t. A difference though was that Bart developed loudspeakers and hifi gear for a living as opposed to whatever the other experts did as a job."
Tell me what exactly do you know about the listeners, the report says very little, this is all I could find in it on that question: We ended up with 60, expert listeners, 23 were appointed by SR, 24 by the four development groups and the remaining organisations like the EBU and the AES. Half of the subjects were from outside Sweden.
So unless you can sheed light on the topic your assertion that Bart is more a expert because he happens to be loudspeakers designer seems highy specious, and as I've said, hints at being informed by bias.
"It may be hard for you to picture, but that job makes one “listen for problems†more intently, as opposed to “listening for goodness†which is what an end user does listening to music at home."
Are you a graduate of the RBG's new course "The Audiophile - Activities in Home Setting"?
"My guess is that is why he was able to pick out the problem and the others weren’t."
Can't imagine anyone entertaining any doubt as to your opinion, you clearly believe that loudspeaker designers are "expert listeners", more expert that other experts "whatever the other experts did as a job".
Now tell me honestly is there anything whatsoever about your personal experience that would predispose you to having such an opinion?
Anything?
LOL
