Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

BINGO!

How eloquently put.

The objectivists will not entertain apsects of the "human side" of selecting audio components while the subjectivists will never be satisfied that ANY scientifically controlled audition or test is worthwhile.

It's a big waste of time. If a science guy wants to believe that DCR is all that counts and use lamp cord, then let him. If a subjectivist guy wants to believe that $7200 cables are components and make a difference even if that difference is admittedly largely in the mind of the listener, then that's cool too.

How can you ARGUE with people that spend big dollars on tweaks and will even go as far as to confess that they would STILL USE THE TWEAK even if the sole benefit was psychological? For some people the end justifies the means. And if the "end" is enjoying their music more and the "means" is unquantifiable and controversial tweaks and components... Then SO BE IT!

Objectivists trying to "change" these guys are fools. If you're smart enough to build an audio test lab, are you not smart enough to start making products that have packaging rife with high-tech sounding diatriabe and verbiage too? Instead of FIGHTING these determined believers, why not just quietly cash in?

Good Lord. We're talking about guys spending thousands on Belden wire covered in a pretty nylon sheath with crappy looking heatshrink on each end. I don't know about you guys, but I just bought 2,000 feet of black nylon sheath, a reel of belden cable and a re-fill for my heat-shrink torch!

My cable will have no dielectric micro-diodes in it. So it will sound better.

Naturally!

Cheers,
Presto
